In many years of helping countless people with their assertiveness as a CBT counsellor I have seen it be key in many people's low mood's and anxiety. The ability to communicate what is important to us and feel we are allowed to stick up for ourselves and take care of our own needs on par with others is absolutely fundamental to good self-esteem and healthy relationships.
