Sleek and intuitive graphical interface
The application doesn't take long to install and it doesn't come with a complicated setup that you would need to complete before you can actually use it. It sports a really intuitive graphical interface with many nice features and tools at hand.
Record audio files easily
The application comes with a Recordings Manager that lets you manage and edit the recordings. You can use the application to record dictations or anything else through the sound card. It gives the option to continue, insert and overwrite recording from a specified position (rewind and continue recording function).
There's the option to record to WAV, MP3, WMA (or any command line encoder). You can also specify recording title and notes for a dictation. You can automatically store recording date and time for the dictation.
More features and tools
It comes with a really extensive settings menu that lets you adjust some settings. You have the option to pick the recording device, the input and set the sample rate. You can also pick from multiple channels and choose the output format from the many options available.
There's also the option to write notes and attach them to your files. All in all, Dictaphone is a very nice software solution that lets you record audio, it's optimized for recording dictations but you can record anything you like that your sound card supports.
