The book is divided into seven sections for ease of reference: tanks, reconnaissance vehicles, APCs, tank destroyers, self-propelled guns, mobile anti-aircraft systems and other vehicles. Each vehicle has a full list of user countries, manufacturer, current status, full data table with details of armament, dimensions, speed, armour, a full development history, detailed description, and a list of variants of the basic vehicle.
Not only current in-service vehicles are covered but also those in development, and those whose development has only recently been started and which will not enter service until the 1980s.
The text is supported by over 480 photographs, many of which have not been published before.
