Amongthe topics highlighted are house demolitions;confrontations between Palestinian shepherds orfarmers and Israeli settlers, soldiers, and police;the daily challenges of sheer existence posed bythe occupation system, intent on pushingPalestinians off their land; and the tenacity andcourage that these conditions require. The bookendeavors to impart to the reader a sense of thebeauty of the landscape, the sound of thelanguage, the taste of friendships, and the richnessof a way of life that is threatened with extinction.
Voices of activists, both Palestinian and Jewish,are also present. The introduction sets forth,in brief, the historical context that generatedpresent realities in Palestine as well as the historyof the authors' partnership. The book's viewpoint reflectsmany years of activism on the peace and humanrights front in Palestine as well as an ongoingconversation between two authors who haveexperienced together the continually renewedastonishment that comes with such encounters.
