For beginners to wearable quilting, the authors provide an overview of materials and tools needed, basic garment construction, fabric selection, piecing and placement, liners, hem length, and finishing details including collars, cuffs, and pockets. Two basic multi-size downloadable patterns are available - one for an adult and one for a child - with multiple length options. Intermediate and advanced quilters can modify the projects to suit their level of expertise, finding inspiration to be adventurous from the included gallery of quilted jacket designs.
Co-author Rae Cumbie is a custom clothing designer with 20 years of experience. She specialized in wedding gowns and special occasion gowns. For more than 10 years she has been creating wearable art jackets. Co-author Carrie Emerson is an attorney and business manager who excels in sewing and quilting as well. She is great friends with Rae Cumbie and works with her on incorporating piecing and quilting designs into garments.
