Intrecciando queste due dimensioni, il lavoro intende evidenziare le profondità teoretiche della speculazione cusaniana, sviluppando sia la felice intuizione di Luigi Pareyson, secondo cui il filosofo tedesco sarebbe tra quei pensatori che hanno elaborato una concezione dell'Uno come libertà, sia la tesi di Werner Beierwaltes, relativa all'eccedenza dell'henologia cusaniana rispetto a quella tradizione di pensiero che Heidegger ha denominato criticamente "onto-teologia".
