For ease of reference we have included those entries which were printed in the Addenda to the first volume in their appropriate sections here.
Also, for greater convenience of reference we have further subdivided Section 1, Reference Media, but we have not included here publications cited in the first volume except for later editions. New developments in electronics have made certain changes necessary. Compared with the first volume them are now sections devoted to the theory of semiconductor devices, microelectronics (microminiaturization), reliability and quality control, millimetre and sub-millimetre wavelength techniques, circuit elements for digital computers and to analogue computers. Some compressions have been obtained elsewhere, e.g., by combining electron optics with electron beam technique and the electron microscope.
We are indebted to a number of people for drawing our attention to significant papers de- serving of inclusion. In particular we should like to express our gratitude to Mr. H. Drubba of the Bibliothek der Technischen Hochschule, und Technische Informationsbibliothek, Hanover, for many suggestions concerning German literature.
