I've been a music photographer since roughly 2013, and I wish I had a guide like this when I first started. I'm not going to treat you like a complete photography beginner in this book. I'd imagine you've got a bit of a clue as to how to get some sweet shots, considering you've turned to a pretty niche type of photography. Having said that there might still be some beginner photography terms and techniques that you're learning, so I've tried as best as possible to clarify anything.
I photographed lots of my friend's gigs when I first started. I started looking into ways to improve, and I really couldn't find much that I could relate to. There were some great podcasts here and there and some online resources, but I spent so much more time trying to find these resources than I did getting out there and learning how to do it. Eventually, trial and error were what got me to where I wanted to be, but it took longer than it should have.
Having gone through it all myself and learnt so much along the way, I wanted to create this guide to get you through it. You're still going to learn a lot yourself, and my experience will probably be slightly different to yours, but this'll help provide you with some great building blocks to get out there and start something extraordinary.
