Africa, with its array of talents and a vast resource base of nature, has the potential of becoming a great force to be reckoned with in global economics. The unforgiving voice of statistics and the media can however educate productively, how that Africa is anything but experiencing meaningful economic growth and development. From growing levels of poverty, deprivation, and destitution, to rising levels of unemployment, declining foreign direct investments, high debt to GDP ratio, low domestic production capacity, and widening balance of payments deficits; and from health and educational infrastructural deficits to other sectoral imbalances that continue to affect aggregate economic performance, there are hosts of challenges that appear to be both causes and the consequences of underdevelopment among African nations. Today, the majority of Africa's population lives in untold uncertainties, destitute to fear and despair; so much that hope has been cast off, and it is almost unfair to demand some faith in the potential greatness of Africa.
