*An oval bone with a length of 10 cm was found.
*Its surface is marked with 168 indentations.
*These indentations are grouped in 3 columns and 16 fields.
*On each field there are linear indentations, which can be read as a number.
*The age of the bone was determined to be about 10,000 to 20,000 years.

It is assumed that the Ishango bone was used as a *calculating rod*.
