Practical Project Management: Proven Framework That Great Project Managers Use In the Real World by Dmytro Nizhebetskyi
English | 2022 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B09V3BZQDC | 515 pages | EPUB | 0.93 Mb
There's a huge gap between the theory and practice of project management. You can spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on the relevant certifications, but still, you won't know what to do with all this knowledge. You won't feel confident about what is essential for the project's success.

In contrast, Practical Project Management teaches you the minimum viable approach for a project manager (PM) and how to implement it in any environment. If you want to be a great project manager, you need to use this approach as the backbone for each new project. It should be simple so that your team understands it. It should be scalable for different levels of the project's complexity. Moreover, this book provides you with step-by-step instructions on how to finish your project successfully.
That's why I wrote this book as if for myself from 10 years ago when I had just started my project management career. I tried to answer all the questions I had back then. I share insights on the information you won't find on the internet. I provide examples and explanations where theory is entirely out of sync with the real world. Therefore:
If you are an entry-level PM, you need to master the approach described in this book. It's all you need for the first three to five years of your career. It's much better than reading the Project Management Institute's (PMI) PMBOK Guide.
If you are a mid-level PM, you'll systemize your knowledge into an integrated project management approach. It may help you pass your PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) exam and improve your skills. You'll fill all the gaps in your understanding of project management.
If you are a senior-level PM, this book will serve you as a refresher. I also hope you'll find some golden nuggets from my 10 years of experience as a software project manager. In addition, it will give you a foundation for teaching junior-level PMs in your organization.
The book's structure follows real-world needs as you encounter them on a project. That's why, for example, stakeholder, scope, and risk management come first and are the biggest chapters in the book: because they have the most profound impact on your project's success.
On the other hand, some chapters are small. There's little value in explaining theory you'll never use. In such cases, your action plan is to find an existing solution inside your organization. Reinventing the wheel should never be your first step.
