For words you don't know, check the vocabulary list and read to the end first. After that, it is a good idea to check the English translation, including all the details. In addition, this book includes the original Japanese text without furigana, so if you are interested, you can try this as well. At the end of each chapter, there are some simple questions to check your understanding.
