Designing & Modeling Generative AI Applications
English | 27 Dec. 2025 | ASIN: B0GCT5SPX8 | 278 pages | Epub | 1.38 MB
"Designing & Modeling Generative AI Applications" is a comprehensive textbook and practical guide for students and professionals seeking to master the rapidly evolving field of Generative AI. This book provides a structured pathway from foundational theory to the hands-on development of sophisticated AI applications. Philosophy The core philosophy of this book is "principled practice." I believe that a robust understanding of Generative AI cannot be achieved through theory alone, nor through simply copying and pasting code. Instead, I foster a deep conceptual understanding of the underlying models and architectures and immediately connect that theory to practical implementation. I aim to demystify complex topics, breaking them down into digestible, first-principle components, and empowering the reader to think like a Generative AI engineer-capable of designing, modeling, and deploying solutions to real-world problems. Key Features 1. Globally Relevant: The content is designed to be compatible with undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Tech) computer science courses at universities worldwide. 2. Full Lifecycle Coverage: Addresses every stage of a Generative AI project: Ideation -> Design -> Modeling -> Fine-Tuning -> Deployment -> Monitoring. 3. Focus on Design and Architecture: Goes beyond just models to teach how to design robust, scalable, and efficient application architectures. 4. Ethical AI Integration: A dedicated chapter on Responsible AI, covering fairness, bias, transparency, and the societal impact of Generative AI technologies. To Whom This Book Is For 1. B.Tech/M.Tech Computer Science Students: As a primary textbook for courses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and specialized Generative AI electives. 2. Aspiring AI/ML Engineers: As a practical guide to gain the in-demand skills required for a career in Generative AI. 3. Software Developers and Architects: Who wish to integrate Generative AI capabilities into their products and services. 4. Researchers and Academics: As a foundational text covering the latest models, techniques, and future research directions. 5. Technology Enthusiasts and Hobbyists: Who are eager to learn and experiment with building their own Generative AI projects.

João R. Correia, "Design of Fibre-Polymer Composite Structures: Commentary to European Technical Specification CEN/TS 19101: 2022"
English | ISBN: 103270683X | 2025 | 872 pages | EPUB | 52 MB
The European Technical Specification CEN/TS 19101:2022, "Design of Fibre-Polymer Composite Structures", constitutes a milestone for the use of fibre-polymer composites in civil engineering works. This book comprises around 400 background reports covering the most relevant paragraphs of the Technical Specification. It provides supplementary information to the Technical Specification, justifies the options that were followed and introduces references that were considered. Among other aspects, this makes it possible to assess the basis of design, the values adopted for partial factors, conversion factors and creep coefficients, provisions for structural analysis, resistance models for structural members, connections and joints, and provisions for durability and detailing. The book also identifies research needs in this field to increase knowledge of the behaviour of fibre-polymer composite structures and for possible future development of the Technical Specification towards a Eurocode standard.

Design and Analysis of Pragmatic Trials by Song Zhang, Chul Ahn, Hong Zhu
English | May 16, 2023 | ISBN: 0367627353 | 206 pages | PDF | 4.31 Mb
This book begins with an introduction of pragmatic cluster randomized trials (PCTs) and reviews various pragmatic issues that need to be addressed by statisticians at the design stage. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each type of PCT, and provides sample size formulas, sensitivity analyses, and examples for sample size calculation. The generalized estimating equation (GEE) method will be employed to derive sample size formulas for various types of outcomes from the exponential family, including continuous, binary, and count variables. Experimental designs that have been frequently employed in PCTs will be discussed, including cluster randomized designs, matched-pair cluster randomized design, stratified cluster randomized design, stepped-wedge cluster randomized design, longitudinal cluster randomized design, and crossover cluster randomized design. It demonstrates that the GEE approach is flexible to accommodate pragmatic issues such as hierarchical correlation structures, different missing data patterns, randomly varying cluster sizes, etc. It has been reported that the GEE approach leads to under-estimated variance with limited numbers of clusters. The remedy for this limitation is investigated for the design of PCTs. This book can assist practitioners in the design of PCTs by providing a description of the advantages and disadvantages of various PCTs and sample size formulas that address various pragmatic issues, facilitating the proper implementation of PCTs to improve health care. It can also serve as a textbook for biostatistics students at the graduate level to enhance their knowledge or skill in clinical trial design.
